Vintage SampleCD Extractor rescues audio from Akai sampler CD-ROMs — the S900, S1000 and S3000 disc format that a normal computer can’t read. Point it at a disc image (.iso / .img / .bin), and it extracts every sample to standard WAV, automatically rejoining the format’s split -L / -R mono files back into proper stereo pairs.

Hand it an ordinary ISO9660 disc image by mistake and it detects that too — telling you to simply mount it in Finder, instead of emitting cryptic errors and an empty output folder.

  • Batch-extracts a whole Akai CD-ROM image to WAV
  • Auto-rejoins split -L / -R mono samples into stereo
  • Reads raw .bin CD rips too (2352-byte sectors), not just .iso / .img
  • Trilingual interface — English / 中文 / 日本語
  • A command-line tool (vse) is included for scripting
  • Free and open source (GPL-2.0)

This was built because vintage sampler libraries are an absolute goldmine! Many classic game soundtracks from the late 90s and early 2000s took full advantage of them. You can find tons of vintage sample CD ISOs on archive.org—go dive in, enjoy them, and learn the history!
